Virginia Jobs & Economy
Offshore access to Virginia's rich stores of oil and natural gas would strengthen our nation's energy and national security, and boost Virginia's economy.
The oil and natural gas industry already supports more than 143,000 jobs and adds $12 billion to the state's gross product accounting for 3.1 percent of Virginia's wealth. Providing access to areas off the shore of Virginia will further boost jobs and revenues for schools, roads and other much-needed services. However, we must start now to begin reaping these benefits. The video below depicts Virginians sharing their views about the impact of oil and natural gas development on the local economy and jobs.
